Resumen

The native community of Chamiriari located in the county of Satipo - Junín, Peru, has a surface of 8283.30 hectares, where there is a diversity of natural resources distributed in four areas of life. To evaluate the impacts of the use of timbers we settled parcels of temporary sampling, 4 for trees bigger than 10.00 cm and 25 for tress smaller than 9.9 cm of DHC (Diameter to the Height of the Chest) which were divided in categories of size in: B, C, D and E. Although in other countries they have been carried out diverse studies on the ecological consequences of the forest use, this subject has received very little attention in Peru. This is a timber area of economic, and also ecological and social importance. It is indispensable to have the necessary substitution in trees to maintain the ecological balance of the area and to protect the native population, what will redound in a bigger commercial use of the wood that is developed. It is in this context that it was carried out a statistical study of the situation of the timber species in this area. The analysis we carried out will allow to develop the wood of the area in a more rational way, such that maximizing the economic earnings, minimizing the ecological damages and to improve the native community's standards of life.
