Resumen
In this research work, we present the design and quantitative description of an algorithm based on the Hough transform and an analysis of irradiated regions in the celestial vault. We utilized digital processing of infrared images to locate the point of maximum solar infrared radiation concentration throughout the day. The sample consisted of 6 non-consecutive days, during which infrared images were captured using an infrared camera placed at different locations in the city of Trujillo, La Libertad, Peru; due to the refraction of radiation as it passes through air masses with varying temperatures, humidities, distances, or even their superposition, we implemented an algorithm that adaptively used the Hough transform and only searched for the sun when the sky was clear. When these conditions were not met, we employed an analysis of irradiated regions to locate a centroid with the point of maximum infrared concentration. The resulting point was expressed in Cartesian coordinates corresponding to the resolution of the capturing device. Out of an average of 180 points captured per day, 86% were detected using the Hough transform, 10.5% through the analysis of irradiated regions, and 3.5% remained undetected, typically at the beginning or end of the day.
