Resumen
Introduction: The assessment of eating habits related to overweight and obesity in university students requires instruments with psychometric evidence in the local context. Objectives: To adapt and conduct a psychometric analysis of the original version of a questionnaire for the assessment and quantification of lifestyle habits related to overweight and obesity among medical students in Lima. Methods: The study used an instrumental design. It included 600 medical students from two private universities, selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The analysis verified the factorability of the matrix and compared five-, six-, and seven-factor models. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were conducted, and internal consistency was estimated using McDonald's Omega coefficient (ω). Results: The evaluated models showed adequate fit in the Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) and the Standardized Root Mean Square Residual (SRMR), with RMSEA < 0.06 and SRMR < 0.08. The six-factor model achieved the best overall performance, showing adequate fit in the Comparative Fit Index (CFI) and the Tucker-Lewis Index (TLI), with values >0.95, whereas the five-factor model showed acceptable fit with values >0.90. Omega (ω) values indicated adequate internal consistency, with values >0.7. Conclusion: The questionnaire demonstrated favorable psychometric properties for use in medical students in Lima, supporting its application for assessing eating habits related to overweight and obesity.
