Resumen

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between academic stress and coping strategies in fifth year high school students from Public Educational Institutions in the district of Chilca-Huancayo, Peru during COVID-19. The methodological approach was quantitative, non-experimental, descriptivecorrelational. The sample consisted of 214 students of both sexes, between 15 and 18 years of age, who were administered the SISCO SV Academic Stress Inventory adapted to the context of the crisis by COVID-19 and the revised Adolescent Coping Scale (ACS Lima). The results revealed a positive and significant relationship between academic stress and the strategies of self-worrying, absence of coping, decreasing tension, self-blaming, keeping to oneself, and wishful thinking. These findings suggest designing psychoeducational programs in order to enhance students' coping abilities in the face of stressful events.
