Resumen
Thi s st udy ai ms t o propose a t our i sm corridor strategy to promote sustainable local development in the districts of Lagunas, Zaña, Cayaltí, Nueva Arica, and Oyotún. The study focuses on the Zaña River Valley in the Chiclayo province of the Lambayeque department in Peru. Due to the specifics of this study, a qualitative research approach was used for a year, employing the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method. The various stakeholders actively and responsibly participated in each phase of community develop-ment. The following were achieved as a result of this participatory and collaborative work: first, the potential tourism resources of each district were recognized; second, the stakeholders involved in tourism development were mapped; third, tourism management strategies were identified; fourth, mechanisms were implemented to receive input and feedback from stakeholders; and fifth, a proposal for an integrative tourism corridor was made for the districts. The results are clear: the districts have potential resources but also have gaps and problems that need to be resolved. Therefore, we highlight the importance of tourism in promoting development and the responsibility of stakeholders in implement-ing the project. We encourage the creation of the «Tourism Association of the Zaña River Valley» to generate synergies between the different stakeholders in the valley.
