Resumen
In this article I seek to analyze the existence and functions of movement in La casa verde (1966) by Mario Vargas Llosa. In other words, I pursue an analysis of the structure of the novel, and we propose it as one of a “liquid” character. Thus, I propose four dimensions (or primary systems) related to each other: religion, commerce, the indigenous people and the army. These represent the aspects that have most influenced the Amazon both historically and novelistically. Therefore, the intersection of these microcosms or dimensions is proposed in this essay as the Amazon itself. In that sense, symbolically, I argue that it is constituted by the flows of power between the four dimensions and between the complex relationships that are recreated in each of them. This, since within each dimension I find other subsets that we will call “internal system”. The characters are like gears that move in complex ways, allowing us to understand La casa verde as a system that moves within another. Thus, the objective is not only to transcend the studies of the structure of this novel, but to demonstrate that in order to think of the Amazon in its complexity it is necessary to understand it as the confluence between different actors and aspects of the Amazon.
